If you would like to drop off proofs of residency during Open House and do not want to hand in originals, please make a photocopy in advance. We will be unable to make photocopies in the main office the night of Open House. Please staple your two proofs of residency together & write your child’s name & grade on the top copy. Any parent wishing to hand in proofs of residency during Open House will hand in their proofs to their child’s homeroom teacher. Proofs will still be accepted during the first few weeks of school, at which time we will be able to make photocopies, if needed.

ALL CURRENT AND POTENTIAL BAND STUDENTS:
Please visit the Band's website where you can find all information related to the band. You can find supplies for the year in the Band Handbook.

We have added two new dates in July for New Student Registration. This is only for students who are new to our district. The dates are July 19th and July 20th. Please use the included link to make an appointment. At the appointment, you will need to bring in your child social security card, birth certificate, immunization record, and two proofs of residency (examples of acceptable proofs of residency include utility bills, mortgage bill, property tax receipt, lease agreement). We will also be able to provide tours of the school after you complete registration in the main office. If you already registered, but did not get a chance to tour the school and want to do so, please do not make an appointment. Instead, call up to the school and we will set up a time for you to tour. https://koalendar.com/e/sgcms-new-student-registration?fbclid=IwAR39V1HYX8XWL8hVLbYsnE_wBoVdGGMHV_8JsWZHw05vrvgO1fo2ZhYyEgo

Due to floor waxing and carpet shampooing in the main office area, we will be unable to answer phone calls tomorrow morning (6/23/23) between 8am-noon. If you need assistance during that time, please email painterk@gcssd.org. Thank you.

We do apologize for any confusion caused by previous posts concerning registration. We hope this post will clear up any confusion.
If you child is returning to SGCMS next year or your child finished the year at SGCES and is a rising 5th grader, you will need to register your student online. Please use the following link and scroll down to the bottom of the page where it explains "How to Register Your RETURNING STUDENT at GCSSD": https://www.gcssd.org/page/register-your-student
If your child is new to the school district, you will need to make an appointment to register your child in person. We still have a limited number of appointments for tomorrow and Thursday. More appointments will open up in July, to be announced. At your appointment, please bring your child's birth certificate, social security card, immunization records, and two proofs of residency. Appointments are to be made using the following link: https://koalendar.com/e/sgcms-new-student-registration

As a reminder, this Wednesday and Thursday we have appointments for new students registering at SGCMS. Returning students and students joining us from SGCES do not need to register using one of these appointments. While we will offer some additional appointments in July, we encourage you to select one of our remaining appointments by using the following link: https://koalendar.com/e/sgcms-new-student-registration . Tours will also be made available during your appointment time upon completion of registration.

SGCMS will have registration for new students available on June 21st and June 22nd. We will have additional registration opportunities later in the summer that will be posted at a later time.
In order to better serve you during the new student registration process, parents are asked to make an appointment prior to registering new students at SGCMS during the summer. Please select a 20 minute appointment and provide us with your contact details. If a parent has multiple children, only one appointment will be required for registration. Please bring your child's birth certificate, social security card, and two proofs of residency. If you would like your child to tour the building, we will work to accommodate this immediately after your registration is complete.

Dear Families,
On May 3, 2023, many school districts in TN have been affected by false reports of an active shooter on their campuses. From what we understand, schools have received internet-based phone calls with these threats, which turn out to be unsubstantiated. It appears to be part of a hoax known as “swatting.”
We know that many of our families may be understandably concerned about school safety. Please know that our top priority is the safety and well-being of our students and staff. We take any and all reports of potential threats seriously, and we are making every effort to maintain an environment where students and staff feel safe.
We would like to continue to encourage our students and school community to report anything that could constitute a threat to school safety. As always, we work closely with local law enforcement to assist in these situations.
The Gibson County Sheriff’s Department and GCSSD SROs are aware of the situation and are focused on keeping our buildings secure.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for your attention to this important update.
